Queens Of The Stone Age
An exhilarating rock band that guides the gurgle and grind of stoner metal through arty swerves, Queens Of The Stone Age has assumed a mantle shared by few of its ilk. The group’s albums have rubbed up critics and finger horn-throwers alike, treating both to heavy helpings of crusty sludge and desert rustle. Of course, before frontman and sole constant Josh Homme was a bona fide rock star, he was just a former member of blazed-and-blazing godhead Kyuss, recording snarling bits of riff-rock all by his lonesome. The results of those early sessions, QOTSA’s self-titled 1998 debut, have been repackaged in a deluxe reissue, which Homme and band will support here, playing the whole thing—plus B-sides—end-to-end.
