Railroad Earth
Railroad Earth takes a page from the Dead’s book by utilizing traditional American song forms like bluegrass and country in service of what are essentially pop songs. But Railroad Earth foregoes drawn-out jams in favor of relatively concise tunes. Nevertheless, jam-band fans appear to have taken Railroad Earth to heart, and the band regularly plays with the likes of The String Cheese Incident and at various outdoor music festivals. The band recently followed the 2006 album Elko, a double-live set, with the studio disc Amen Corner, which keeps up its reliance on tasteful plucking and vocal harmonies.
