Rammstein

For some reason, metal sounds more epic in in a foreign language. German band Rammstein has surfed that wave to American fandom for more than a decade, even though most of its lyrics are gobbledygook to the average Yank. That’s because metal is about attitude more than lyrical content. Considering a good percentage of metal music contains a series of indiscernible squeals, it’s refreshing for a band to cut out the middleman and just rock out in a foreign language. This could either indicate that the genre is simpleminded or that it is the universal language of music. Metalheads clearly relate to the latter, allowing a group of musicians from across the pond to gain prominence enough to swing a greatest hits compilation.
