Randy Weeks
Randy Weeks is still most well-known for Lucinda Williams’ version of his song “Can’t Let Go” on her brilliant 1999 album Car Wheels On A Gravel Road, but he has much more than the one song in him. After cutting his teeth in the Minneapolis music scene in the '70s, Weeks moved to L.A. and formed the harmony-laden Americana group Lonesome Strangers before setting out solo with 2000's Nashville-by-way-of-Minnesota effort Madeline, a sturdy if overly mannered disc that sounded like Willie Nelson on a Creedence bender. Now based in Austin, Weeks worked with Will Sexton on his new Going My Way, drawing on dusty Texas vibes and a bit of New Orleans soul, anchored by Weeks' pleasant, slightly nasal tenor.
