Artist Rascal Flatts

  • Rascal Flatts

There are a few truisms in life: Water is wet, rocks are hard, Rascal Flatts sucks. But is this obscenely popular country trio also evil? Only a truly diabolical band of motherfuckers would dare revive Tom Cochrane’s dire “Life Is A Highway,” but that’s exactly what Rascal Flatts did in 2006, scoring a Top 10 hit. Not that the group’s other material is any less mediocre, especially compared with the likes of the bottom-feeder treacle of “My Wish” or the self-explanatory pap of “Fast Cars And Freedom.” (Both No. 1 hits, by the way.) Rascal Flatts shows that musicians haven’t stopped selling their souls to the devil after Robert Johnson.
