Ray Romano

While it’s popular in hipper circles to deride Everybody Loves Raymond as flavorless Middle American fare, the show deserves respect for garnering both huge ratings and critical acclaim in an era where the traditional sitcom is supposedly dying. Much of that success can be attributed to the likeable comic at its center, Ray Romano, whose everyman appeal and “reluctant family man” neuroses informed the show’s sweet-and-sour humor.
