Red Knife Lottery shifts easily among epic rock, hardcore, metal, and countless other moods, crafting a mini soundtrack to teen angst within each song. The Milwaukee group’s soft-loud dynamics are punctuated by singer Ashley Chapman’s ability to go from blasé drawl to ferocious roar. After several years away from the studio, the band released a new record, Soiled Soul And Rapture, in 2009, and a slick video for the brooding “Junkie Jazz,” a Looking For Mr. Goodbar-style tale about “a girl in gold shoes, wearing too much rouge.”
