Religious Girls
The experimental side of Religious Girls’ pop is often manifested in the theatrics of their live show: loop stations chugging along with tons of keys, a hammering of percussion, a little paint on the drum set for added effect. At other times, the tinkering is subtler, lines drawn inward and pieces pared down, forgoing lyrics altogether or opting for choral chants. But rarely is there a point where the music isn’t filled with magic and glitter. While they still produce wonderfully introspective headphone music, Religious Girls are clearly made for playing live, often spreading out into the audience to become one with the venue.
