Ringworm

Victory Records’ roster is primarily staffed by swoopy-haired youngsters who weren’t even conceived until a few years after Reign In Bloodwas. But there are exceptions: Cleveland’s Ringworm has a pedigree that stretches back to the early ’90s, way before pop-punk choruses and DayGlo had any place in hardcore. After releasing two records during Clinton’s decade, most of the band slipped into the ranks of the longstanding and influential Integrity; meanwhile, lead singer James “Human Furnace” Bulloch concentrated on his work as a tattoo artist. The band re-emerged with 2001’s Birth Is Pain, and it’s been rolling out albums for Victory ever since—the latest, Scars, just hit the street in July.
