Robert Earl Keen
If there’s one thing you can’t accuse Robert Earl Keen of, it’s being dishonest. Through the years, the Texan has gained a reputation as one of country’s most honest storytellers, one with a penchant for occasional spats of goofiness. Of course, the veracity of “The Great Hank,” a dream-story about Hank Williams in drag, has yet to be proven—and you’ll have to wait a while before you find out if “Wireless In Heaven” (from 2009’s The Rose Hotel) has the ring of truth. Ready For Confetti is his newest record, but when it comes to touring, the tireless live performer planted his M.O. in the refrain of his signature song: “The road goes on forever,” goes the titular lyric, “and the party never ends.”
