Robert Klein

Robert Klein, Phil Konstantin

Robert Klein deserves respect, if only for his commitment and longevity: In addition to all the TV, film, and theater credits he’s accrued, the Bronx-born Klein has been doing stand-up for more than 40 years. Whether dissecting his childhood (as on his Grammy-nominated first album, Child Of The Fifties) or Watergate (1974’s Mind Over Matter), Klein has always appealed to the commonsensical—that is, the obvious but overlooked perspective that, in his case, seems born from equal parts disappointment and whimsy. As a musician and someone dedicated to old-but-successful bits, expect him to close with some elaborate variation of his “Can’t Stop My Leg” routine.
