Rod Stewart
It’s been a while since Rod Stewart had any credibility left to lose, but he made a curious latter-day career move when he delved into American standards. The four volumes of his The Great American Songbook project have found the raspy rock rascal covering such canon fodder as “Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered” and “Someone To Watch Over Me” (the former a duet with Cher, the latter with Queen Latifah). His latest project is 2006’s Still The Same… Great Rock Classics Of Our Time, which answers the burning question of how Stewart would sing The Pretenders’ “I’ll Stand By You.”
