Peters at times delves into Margaret Cho territory—especially when he slips into the thick accents of his parents—but he’s also capable of putting his material through some unexpected twists: In one bit, he argues that white people should beat their kids so the kids won’t feel left out when their immigrant classmates talk about getting their asses whooped at home.
