Rusty Ps

Hometown hip-hop heroes Rusty Ps named their great 2008 record The Shape Of Things To Come, though The Shape Of Things That Came Before is probably more appropriate. The 14-song disc is rich with infectious pass-the-mic rhymes courtesy of freewheeling MCs Phantom Channel and Count Classic, and stripped-down, basement-party beats from crafty DJ Madhatter. Rusty Ps have been a cornerstone of Milwaukee’s hip-hop scene since the mid-’90s, emerging just as the so-called “golden” era of hip-hop gave way to the period of world domination we’re still in today. Not that Rusty Ps got that memo: The trio comes on like a throwback to when rappers just started to get airplay on MTV.
