Ryan Cabrera’s breezily innocuous pop is pure Dave Matthews-lite, but his appeal (and marketing) is akin to unthreatening boys-next-door such as ’70s teen idol David Cassidy. There’s no denying that Cabrera tapped into something, though, as his former MTV ubiquity and fan-packed shows demonstrate. Expect hordes of screaming teens and their chaperoning parents present as the ex-boyfriend of Ashlee Simpson supports 2008's breakup anthem-heavy The Moon Under Water and offers a glimpse of a new album reportedly due in 2010.
