Post-grunge rappin’ dudes Saliva surely never had another breakthrough like the one frontman Josey Scott provided dueting with fellow modern-rock yarler Chad Kroeger on the Spiderman soundtrack super-smash, “Hero.” It’s a shame, because soft balladry doesn’t seem to be the trademark the band was after, as evidenced by its balls-out hit “Click Click Boom” and “Badass,” the opening track off the new Under Your Skin. Despite the tough guy exterior, Saliva often seems to wedge sweet sentiments in between the crunchy riffs, making it come off as much more cuddly than its contemporaries.
