Sara Evans peddles the kind of country that’s nearly indistinguishable from adult-contemporary rock aside from twangy vocals, and in her case the twang is so slight that the bended guitar parts are about the only thing that attaches the music to the genre. But before Evans moved onto modern country, she released a debut album called Three Chords And The Truth that not only showed tremendous aptitude and respect for traditional country, it sounded like it too. After a long recording hiatus, Evans is set to release an album next year called Stronger, and judging from the new single, “A Little Bit Stronger,” it’s going to keep moving away from the promising material and confident cover songs that marked her debut.
