Artist Scissor Sisters

  • Scissor Sisters

As dance-rock shook itself into something the whole family can enjoy, Scissor Sisters emerged in the mid-’00s as second-wave innovators with a sound as big and indulgent as the Elton John lineage they hold so dear. After taking off with their 2004 self-titled debut—especially in the UK, where it was the best-selling album of the year—Scissor Sisters got the disco ball rolling again with “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’,” a single from 2006’s Ta-Dah that featured no less than Elton John himself on piano. That album leaned a little too heavily on the piano, so it’s nice that 2010’s Night Work returns to what Scissor Sisters do best: Producer Stuart Price (Madonna, Pet Shop Boys) takes the group back to the neon dance sounds pioneered by Price’s previous clients.
