All bong-rattling fuzz box riffs, big Zeppelin beats, and tight-pants wailing, Austin’s Scorpion Child is the latest in a line of MC5/Blue Cheer-worshipping bands to rally indie kids, nu-ravers, and greasy longhairs around bearded, balls-out rock. Their bruised-and-bloody ’70s rock—and especially scene-stealing singer Aryn Schwartz’s powerful Plant-esque yowl—makes all other “revivalists” look like kids playing dress-up.
