Scream

For those not particularly well-versed in the history of punk and hardcore in our nation’s capital, the most notable thing about Scream is that it featured a pre-Nirvana Dave Grohl on drums for the band’s final two albums. Of course, by then, the Alexandria, Va.-based band—which was formed in 1981 by brothers Peter and Franz Stahl, the latter of whom would later play guitar in Foo Fighters—had already released three full-lengths on Dischord Records and established itself as one of the city’s preeminent hardcore acts. Grohl won’t be, ahem, banging the drum with the recently reunited Scream, however; instead, original bassist Skeeter Thompson and drummer Kent Stax will round out the lineup.
