Sevendust

Sevendust seems to represent a bygone, slightly better-rounded era of popular alt-metal, keeping some dignity amid bands that get “modern-rock” radio play. Then again, its 2008 set of ballads and swaggering dirges, Chapter VII: Hope And Sorrow, includes guest spots from American Idol-bred belter Chris Daughtry and Alter Bridge’s Myles Kennedy and his bandmate, former Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti. 2010’s Cold Day Memory ditched the cameos in favor of the return of original guitarist Clint Lowery to the fold. A new album is reportedly in the works, which the band has hinted may be its last.
