Sha Na Na
Quite possibly the lamest group to perform at Woodstock—and that’s saying something—Sha Na Na has somehow proved to also be among the most enduring, turning out the same old leather-jacketed late-’50s rock ’n’ roll shtick for more than 40 years. At one time Sha Na Na might’ve possibly been considered irreverent, but after the group’s successful, late-’70s variety series and appearances in the stage and film versions of Grease, Sha Na Na has come to be seen as the best-known faux-’50s group of all time. Only Donny York and Jocko Marcellino remain from the original lineup, but that shouldn’t be a problem for a group predicated on the idea of performing other people’s hits
