Shane Mauss tries to have his stand-up both ways, coming off as a little bit arch word-twister and a slightly greater bit drunken doofus. The La Crosse, Wisconsin native’s bits might make you slap your forehead not only because they’re kind of ridiculous, but also because you can’t imagine why you didn’t think of these things first. For example, in dissecting the phrase “What crawled up your ass and died?” he keenly observes, “I think that one would be in a worse mood if said thing were still alive.” Still relatively fresh to the comedy scene, Mauss has made some high-profile marks with appearances on The Bob And Tom Show andConan, as well as last year’s Comedy Central special and a CD, Jokes To Make My Parents Proud.
