Sheena Easton
Years before American Idol turned Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood into prefab pop stars, Sheena Easton was pushed into the U.K. Top 40 thanks to the British documentary series The Big Time. That Easton is still plying her pop-starlet trade nearly 30 years later shows that lasting careers can be forged from inauspicious beginnings, though her actual music can hardly be considered sturdy in an artistic sense. After scoring early on with squeaky-clean pap like “Morning Train,” Easton resorted to slutting up her image with assistance from Prince, who allowed her to lend some sultry vocals on 1987’s “U Got The Look.” Since then, Easton has kept herself busy doing musical theater and Christmas tours, though expect a run through hits like “Sugar Walls” at this show.
