Shooter Jennings

Shooter Jennings—son of country legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter—started his musical career in Hollywood fronting rock bands before deciding to follow in his father’s footsteps. Though he would seemingly like to be seen as a raunchy, hard-rockin’ good old boy, Jennings’ debut, Put The O Back In Country, echoed the smoother sounds of modern alt-country artists like Ryan Adams more than elder statesmen such as George Jones or Buck Owens. His sound got amplified and roughed up a bit on 2006’s Electric Rodeo and 2007’s The Wolf, but the new Black Ribbons finds him going back to heavier, riff-heavy rock sound with his new band, Hierophant.
