Silverstein
Silverstein got its start on Chicago’s Victory Records, a label that’s found astonishing success with a sound that the band typifies. On 2007’s Arrivals & Departures, metallic breakdowns with larynx-shredding screams segue directly into pretty, melodic moments with sung vocals. That dynamic has been pummeled into oblivion by a million terrible bands, but the members of Silverstein have the chops to pull it off, even approaching refinement on 2009’s A Shipwreck In The Sand. The band celebrated its 10th year of existence by performing all four of its albums in their entirety and commemorating them on last year’s CD/DVD set, Decade (Live At The El Mocambo), following that by jumping to a new label, Hopeless Records, and releasing Rescue, a new album of pummeling post-hardcore.
