Sky Sunlight Saxon’s legendary garage group The Seeds was hailed as “America’s own Rolling Stones” by no less an authority than Muddy Waters. But even though the band never translated such accolades into Stones-level commercial fame, The Seeds’ influence on countless ’60s garage groups—and thus the current wave of Nuggets revivalists—cannot be overstated, as songs like the now-standard “Pushin’ Too Hard” were practically schematics for scores of primitive rawkers from The Stooges to Alice Cooper to, um, every single punk band. These days, Saxon holds court as the “King Of Garage Rock” while keeping The Seeds name alive on records such as 2008's candy-colored trip down flashback lane, Back To The Garden, and a long-in-the-works collaboration with Billy Corgan.
