Slim Cessna's Auto Club
Slim Cessna’s Auto Club has been a Denver mainstay since its formation nearly 20 years ago. In that time, Slim Cessna and Munly have concocted dark haunting murder ballads, up-tempo foot-stompers, and sorrowful tearjerkers with an ever-changing cast of supporting characters. Each new release has offered another opportunity to peek at how they do things in the country and at this point, the band’s gothic gospel country sounds have become a defining element of the Denver music scene. On the most recent record, Unentitled, the group offers everything to fans from the frantic “My Last Black Scarf” to the longwinded “Hallelujah Anyway,” attacking a fresh set of songs with a renewed sense of purpose and a strong sense of identity.
