Slough Feg

Formerly known as The Lord Weird Slough Feg—the band dumped "The Lord Weird" from its already unwieldy moniker for the very un-metal reason of making it easier to locate in record stores—San Francisco's Slough Feg plays Celtic-tinged folk-metal that harkens back to galloping '80s horsemen like Iron Maiden. For anyone burned out on the sludgy, dropped-D doomcore or prissy Hot Topic screamo that passes for "metal" these days, Slough Feg offers a return to the Golden Age of codpieces, Norse mythology, and sword-'n'-sorcery-inspired lyrics. The band's latest slab of tongue-in-cheek, prog-metal clang is Ape Uprising.
