Social Distortion

Say what you will about the band’s music, but there’s something impressive about the fact that more than three decades after its formation, Social Distortion continues to sell out venues across America. Leader Mike Ness’ popularity didn’t come easy, though: Since forming the roots-meets-hardcore outfit in the late ’70s, the singer-guitarist has weathered everything from drug addiction to a loss of musical focus, although he’s managed to maintain a readily identifiable style all these years. The band signed to Epitaph for its newest release, 2011’s Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes, its first since 2004’s Sex, Love, And Rock ’N’ Roll.
