Sondre Lerche

Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche has dabbled in plenty of styles, many of them flitting around the suggested edges of folk, though he definitely rocks a bit on his freewheeling 2007 album, Phantom Punch. After that, Lerche scored the Steve Carell film Dan In Real Life, a task he took with immersive seriousness by attending auditions and sleeping overnight on the film’s set. As a singer, Lerche has a warm, decidedly homey voice, which is showcased on his 2011 self-titled album. “Domino,” the album’s lead single, captures the orchestral pop from 2009’s Heartbeat Radio before veering into a mess of guitar-squall and heartbeat thumps, thanks in part to a new backing band and indie producer Nicolas Vernhes (Spoon, Animal Collective).
