Sonny Landreth
Sonny Landreth’s slide-guitar skill is widely acknowledged: In addition to his own batch of solo albums, Landreth has loaned his sound to older blues greats such as John Mayall and Dr. John, and his own music (sometimes called “slydeco”) falls somewhere between those two. Landreth’s studio albums—the latest is 2008’s From The Reach—mix swamp influences with a creative approach to slide playing. For a better idea of what to expect here, check out 2005’s Grant Street, which captures Landreth and his band live—or, for that matter, his 2007 live album, appropriately titled Live At Jazz Fest 2007. Landreth appears here following the 2009 re-release of his underrated 2000 album Levee Town, which adds bonus tracks like the appropriately named stomper "Pedal To The Metal."
