Sourvein

Since it formed in North Carolina in 1993, Sourvein has come to embrace riffs as thick and oozy as the devil’s pot brownies, but also zombie-shriek vocals and glowering static that push it right to the edge of demoralization. Of course, it turns out that stoner-metal pleasures and doom-metal decimation go hand in hand pretty readily anyway, at least in Sourvein’s brutal formula. The band spent 2008 releasing a series of EPs that was supposed to lead to a new full-length in 2009 on the UK’s Candelight Records. No word on that yet, but in the meantime the band’s 2002 full-length, Will To Mangle, still provides a pretty solid introduction.
