Artist South Side Of Heaven

Though its name might suggest a classic Slayer album, The Second City revue South Side of Heaven may indeed be the opposite. Rather than melding furious riffing with talk of blood and guts, the show focuses on the hilarity of some of Chicago’s most noticeable things. Mayors Daley and Emanuel expressing themselves through song? Yup. Carriage horses that are forced to pull tourists to the Bean under the eye of a murderous driver? Absolutely. An awkward, lonely TSA employee wondering what exactly is on the other side of the body scan? Totally. Slayer puns aside, Second City has put together an unholy alliance of topical humor, absurdity, and emotion that is proof that God simply does not hate us all.
