Spank Rock

Spank Rock is synonymous with underground partying. Though he’s not exactly underground—nor has he been since an early breakout in Philadelphia—the multi-talented performer mixes a club-friendly combination of electro, hip-hop, and alternative rap as both a solo executioner or with collaborator XXXchange. Having toured with an eclectic mix of fellow genre-breakers, from M.I.A. to Beck, Spank Rock straddles the selective gray area between mainstream and offbeat pop appeal. Between 2006’s YoYoYoYoYo and the new Everything Is Boring & Everyone Is A Fucking Liar, he released a 5-song EP and a couple of DJ mixes in addition to making a spate of featured album appearances (including collaborations with M.I.A., Santogold, and N.A.S.A.). Despite his growing catalogue, it’s safe to say that Spank Rock is still best enjoyed in a sweaty, crowded club.
