This Week Ted Leo And The Pharmacists cover Tears For Fears

Artist Squeeze

The nostalgia-fueled appeal of Squeeze extends far beyond the late-’70s/early-’80s British new wave. The group’s melody-rich pop is based almost entirely on sweet ’60s pop bands and classic soul, though tempered just a tiny bit by a punk edge. That’s probably why Squeeze’s audience has long been split between the middle-aged, call-the-babysitter crowd—which remembers its rise—and younger fans familiar with the group from countless retro DJ nights. The latest crowd-pleasing edition of Squeeze features harmonizing singers Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook. Don’t be on the lookout for too much in the way of new songs, however: The band hasn’t released an album of new material since 1998’s Domino.
