Stardeath And White Dwarfs

Stardeath And White Dwarfs

Dennis Coyne, the leader of Oklahoma’s Stardeath And White Dwarfs, is the nephew of The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne, but that shouldn’t be a factor in Stardeath’s building buzz. (And yet, it absolutely is.) Uncle Wayne isn’t shy about inviting the younger band to open for the Lips, although Stardeath packs enough psychotropic delight to warrant the endorsement sans nepotism. After all, the band does have a song titled, “Smoking Pot Makes Me Not Want To Kill Myself,” a dizzyingly cosmic folk-pop tune that could easily have fit on an early Lips album. Earlier this year, Stardeath joined the Lips (and Henry Rollins and Peaches) to completely recreate Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon with hit-or-miss results; expect some Floyd residue in its performance.
