Although Steve Byrne’s website claims that his Irish/Korean background provides him with “a wealth of material,” he doesn’t rely too much on obvious, race-heavy clichés—instead he mostly talks about sex, like men’s primal bedroom behavior and the domesticity of doing it doggy-style. Byrne’s opened for a bunch of big-name artists (Kanye West and Reverend Horton Heat among them), and has appeared on Chappelle’s Show. He also hosted his own hour-long Comedy Central special, 2008’s Steve Byrne’s Happy Hour; taped another special called The Byrne Identity for the network; and will star in the upcoming Vince Vaughn-produced TBS sitcom, Sullivan And Son,as a lawyer-turned-bar-owner in his hometown of Pittsburgh.
