STNNNG

STNNNG

Nothing sums up the gleeful anarchy of punk act STNNNG (pronounced “stunning”) as succinctly as singer Chris Besinger’s smartass callout on “New National Anthem,” one of the standout tracks on the band’s 2005 debut, Dignified Sissy: “C’mon—who’s up for some serious nihilism?” The Minneapolis quintet’s live shows bring more rock than the stage can handle (literally), often sending Besinger out into the crowd to spit out his invective into a wireless mic. Featuring a formidable low end thanks to bassist Jesse Kwakenat (who also plays in Heroine Sheiks), the spazz-rockers fulfilled their promise as worthy successors to the not-so-cuddly no-wave sound with 2006’s Fake Fake and continue the vitriol on the 2010’s blistering album Smoke Of My Will.
