Surgeons In Heat
In 2010, Surgeons In Heat contributed to an all-Wisconsin tribute to Wilco’s Summerteeth album, and the group’s 2011 self-titled EP illustrates just how good a fit that project was. The band’s easygoing, summery strums and well-crafted vocals sometimes evoke the simpler side of Jeff Tweedy, but are rarely simplistic. Surgeons In Heat haven’t been together for more than a couple of years, but the hardworking group has been turning heads thanks to an aggressive touring schedule and fuzzily tuneful songs like the catchy rocker “I Wanna Get Up” and “The Price.” The 2012 album Midnight At Bellevue—which will be released along with the self-titled EP as one vinyl LP later this year—sails on just as smoothly, particularly on the ooey, gooey slow jam “If You Leave.”
