Swingin' Utters
San Francisco band Swingin’ Utters has been playing ’70s punk for so long that for fans who came of age during the band’s ’90s prime, it might as well have been a part of the original wave of the spiky-haired sneer brigade. (The Utters were even treated to a tribute album, Untitled 21: A Juvenile Tribute To Swingin’ Utters, last year.) But proud legacy aside, the Utters haven’t been terribly prolific lately, touring behind greatest-hits and live albums for the past several years. But this year the Utters finally released Here, Under Protest, the proper follow-up to 2003’s Dead Flowers, Bottles, Bluegrass, And Bones, making up for the long wait by bringing us even more pure, unadulterated punk.
