Switchfoot
Making non-secular music isn’t always easy in the world of rock ’n’ roll, but Switchfoot has found a rabid fan base—lovingly referred to as “friends of the foot”—for its gritty, Jesus-friendly rock scores. Formed in the mid-’90s, the California band conquered the Christian-rock scene before breaking into the mainstream, with songs featured on the soundtrack to the 2002 sap-fest A Walk To Remember. More than a decade and a half into its career, Switchfoot is still cranking out emotional pop-rock with its seventh album, 2009’s Hello Hurricane, and the 2011 follow-up, Vice Verses, which tweaks the return to rock anthems heralded by Hurricane with some electronic elements added to the mix.
