Artist Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal has released dozens of albums of blues, R&B, soul, reggae, gospel, folk, and jazz, usually combining many of those genres into a smooth, worldly sound. Don’t pass up the genre-smashing singer-guitarist-historian’s In Progress & In Motion (1965-1998), a three-disc, 54-song set that spans more than 30 years of Mahal’s excellent, diverse music, with lots of rarities thrown in for good measure. On Mahal’s most recent album, American Horizon, the diversity of the bluesman’s sound extends to his special guests, including Tex-Mex outfit Los Cenzontles (The Mockingbirds) and Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo.
