Artist T-Bird And The Breaks

Local neo-juke-joint acts like Black Joe Lewis And The Honeybears and T-Bird And The Breaks both give precedence to the latter component of their rhythm and blues, but the Breaks’ sound is a little more uptown than the gritty shouters that landed the Honeybears on Lost Highway. Still, Tim Crane’s hungover rasp has seen trouble, and the band still manages to inject some authentic down-and-out sentiment into cuts like “Blackberry Brandy” and “Monkey In The Trees”—a pain that must be danced away to the tune of the Breaks’ thick grooves.
