Testa Rosa
The 2007 self-titled debut from Milwaukee dreamy pop trio Testa Rosa already seems like an age-old local classic, though even when it was first released it sounded like a lost alt-rock gem from the early ’90s. Singer-songwriter Betty Blexrud-Strigens definitely has a Tanya Donelly/Kristin Hersh thing going on, delivering strong yet vulnerable vocals that make boys swoon. Stay back, fellas—Testa Rosa is rounded out by Blexrud-Strigens’ husband, Damian Strigens, and Paul Hancock, the same core that formed the defunct modern rock band The Mustn’ts in the mid-’00s.
