The 1900s

The 1900s spent the last three years re-evaluating their lineup and sound, moving the focus away from the baroque arrangements of their debut album,Cold & Kind, embracing a sound closer to ’70s AM gold. Their hyper-melodic sound is more refined than ever on their new record, Return Of The Century, a concept album that blends sunny instrumentation with the twisted story of a Christina ‘Licorice’ McKechnie, a cult member who’s been missing since 1990. Their live show focuses on a more blissed-out country rock sound, making constant Fleetwood Mac comparisons understandable. Chicago might not be known for churning out dreamy chamber pop groups, but The 1900s are hard at work carving their own niche of bouncy, well-mannered sounds with a dark twist.
