Artist The Adventures Of Prince Achmed

Lotte Reiniger's The Adventures Of Prince Achmeddraws from some of ancient literature's most fantastical source material—the collected Middle-Eastern folk tales of 1,001 Arabian Nights. So it's only appropriate that the film tells the tale of its titular prince in a suitably fantastical manner, using Reiniger's signature animated silhouettes. The German animator's enchanting character designs and hypnotic sense of movement render the story nearly moot, as Prince Achmed and his allies magically dance through intricate cut-out backgrounds in their quest to defeat an evil African sorcerer.
