The Album Leaf

The Album Leaf began as a solo project for Tristeza’s Jimmy LaValle, but it’s proven over the years to be much more popular than his main band. 2010’s A Chorus Of Storytellers (released on Sub Pop) expands on LaValle’s melody-charged mood music with ambient synth textures and lilting pianos. It’s a heavy-hearted effort, and may be his strongest yet. The tour in support of it (still going) is LaValle’s first with a full backing band; they’ll be heading from their Philly date straight up to Jersey to play the Portishead/Jeff Mangum-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties festival.
