The Allman Brothers Band
The Allman Brothers Band’s personnel has changed several times since the group formed in 1969—in fact, since the death of Duane Allman in 1971, there is only one “brother”—but the hard-driving blues and Southern rock sound that made it famous definitely has not. Along with The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band is one of the original “jam bands,” working extended improvised solos and complex instrumental arrangements in ways that ensure no show is ever the same—a reason that crowds still fill seats to see the group more than 40 years later.
