The Arge
Spitting a head-rattling mixture of sludgy rock and punk grit from between its gnashed teeth, Madison’s The Arge boasts a sound that's as indebted to early Sub Pop as much as classic rock like Thin Lizzy. On releases like 2008’s EP Songs Of Thugs And Mates and 2007’s self-titled full-length, The Arge alternates between a slightly grimier version of The Vindictives on “Geek Train” and psychedelic rock riffage on “BAS.” But the common threads running through its various forms of reckless abandon are the towering walls of hammering rhythms and shitloads of piss and vinegar.
